Event rules

HackForChrist, BeachHack S08 · Updated 24 October 2026

BeachHack Season 8 is a Major League Hacking (MLH) member event, so HackForChrist follows the MLH Code of Conduct. Every team member agrees to it when registering, together with the event rules below, which cover what the MLH code does not: fair play, safety at our venues and reporting on the spot.

1. Event rules for HackForChrist

These apply alongside the MLH Code of Conduct at every stage: registration, the 36-hour hackathon at Nidhi Cottage Homestay, Chavakkad from 5 to 7 February 2027, and every online space for the event.

Fair play

  • Provide accurate details and sign in only with your own college Google account.
  • Each person may belong to one team only. Once a team submits, its members are locked and only the organisers can make changes.
  • Teams apply with an idea and a pitch deck. All project code must be written during the hackathon; code written in advance leads to disqualification.
  • Open-source libraries, public APIs and frameworks are permitted, and must be disclosed when you present.
  • Never present another person's or team's work as your own. The judges' decisions are final.

Safety at the venues

  • Follow the instructions of the organisers and venue staff at all times.
  • Enter the sea only when the organisers permit it, never alone and never after dark.
  • Alcohol, illegal substances and any behaviour that puts others at risk are prohibited.
  • Respect the campus, the homestay, its staff and its neighbours. Stay within the permitted areas, keep noise down where others are resting and leave every space clean.
  • You are responsible for your own equipment. Do not handle others' belongings without permission, and report anything lost, found or damaged.

Reporting at the event

As well as the reporting lines in the MLH Code of Conduct, you can speak to any organiser in person or email beachhack@cce.edu.in. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 112 first. You do not need evidence to make a report. Reports are shared only with the organisers who need to know, and you will not be identified without your consent.

Breaking the rules

Anyone who breaks the MLH Code of Conduct or these rules may be warned, removed from the event or disqualified, at the organisers’ discretion. Serious matters may be referred to the college or the police.
